Faith in Your Own Abilities
One person's belief in themselves can change the opinions of hundreds of people who doubt. It can be so strong that it surpasses all negative energy, defeats, obstacles, and mistrust. 💪
Defeats shape character. Researchers and scientists discovered truths not so much through knowledge as through the perseverance of character and faith in their own hypothesis. Every time they fell before they rose.
Any truth was first mocked, then challenged, then accepted.
These setbacks teach a child to walk, and a researcher to create new things. Add a 'fighter' attitude to these setbacks, and you will already realize your potential possibilities "not because of, but against the odds".
Defeats hold so much power because they teach us to overcome, and everything that does not kill us makes us stronger. (Friedrich Nietzsche, Twilight of the Idols, “Maxims and Arrows,” § 8). A person who has experienced falls and ascents lives through emotional opposites. And only the presence and combination of these opposites create something new.
Emotional peaks and troughs make up the amplitude of life and expand the boundaries of being. The value of a "peak experience" is determined not by the height of the perpendicular from homeostasis, but by the distance to the lowest point of emotional trough. 🌓
«They gave us darkness only so that we might happily meet the sun» (ГРОТ, «Небесплатное»).
Questions about this article
01How does belief in one’s abilities help a person move through defeat?
It sustains action after failure and prevents defeat from becoming a final verdict. Repeated attempts turn falls into experiences of mastery, strengthen character, and help a person realize potential despite absent external confirmation.
02Why can defeat become a source of strength?
Not because pain is valuable in itself, but because falling and rising again train the ability to continue. The contrast between emotional lows and peaks broadens experience and gives a later “peak experience” more meaning.
